First day of Mexican adventure

Grateful for:

  1. Seeing the real Caribbean coast in a quiet fishing village of Puerto Morelos. The water is an amazing sparkling turquoise  colour that bluer than Vanuatu water, I would have never believed if I did not see it myself.
  2. Having a long chat with the owner of Puerto Morelos used book store about the trials and tribulations of running a book store, the best places to see on the peninsular and best ways to get there.
  3. Picking up a few awesome books: Sacred Contracts, The Notes From The Universe and Bedazzled.
  4. Seeing a sea of people stacked next to each other on the Beach of Playa Del Carment, rows and rows of banana chairs. It was fascinating in its repulsiveness –  THIS is the highlight of their year, the holiday!
  5. Having super yummy delicious vegetarian Lebanese food.
  6. Walking around Playa in the evening, it is a great spot for people watching with an amazing European feel to it and lots of fit beautiful people to check out.
  7. Finding 100% Natural restaurant which seems to be a Mexican chain of health food restaurants.
  8. Being dazzled by their array of fresh fruit smoothies. I mean, cactus smoothie anyone?!
  9. Seeing a salad with my name in the menu! Admittedly it was Pollina but hey close enough. And no, I did not have it.
  10. Stealing a Lonely Planet from the hotel to tell us the not-to-be missed highlights. No matter how hard we try, we just can’t escape being the “Lonely-Planet-clutching independent travelers”
