I am exploring giving since the start of 2010 as one of my areas of life focus and usual charity simply never resonated with me. With Kiva however I love the concept of “circulating wealth” the most as the same amount of money can help people over and over and over again.
My goal since the new year has been 1 loan a day (which I do every few weeks for all the days since last loaning) to get to the point where I get exactly $25 a day back in repayments to then loan it out again, like a self sustaining loaning vehicle.
Another side goal is also to use Kiva as a “rainy day” fund instead of keeping money for “rainy day” in savings, I want to have enough circulating in Kiva that if something bad happens to me I can just live modestly on the repayments until I get back on my feet. I definitely can not even contemplate something that bad happening to me but hey ho, never say never and better be prepared for anything.
