We had high expectations for Akihabara – reportedly geek heaven with electronics out of this world. What we found was simply a lot of electronics department stores selling lots of the same things. Still I managed to spy a mini Fujitsu netbook which was never released outside of Japan which was very cool and exactly the portable device I was looking for so I bought one. Undeterred by Japanese only Vista which was subsequently hacked with Vistalizer to show most of words in English. Will has also since bought himself a BT keyboard and is happily using it for browsing and emailing.
Saw 2 shrines on our way home, overall impression of Japanese shrines is like most of the rest of Japan itself – very understated and subtle. After the bright and rich colours of Thailand temples these look a little on the stark side but that is their allure I guess.
