Today we saw the main attraction of Ninh Binh – yet another “Halong Bay”, this time on the river. It was an amazing experience, one of the most memorable ones yet – a 2 hour slow boat trip down the river past majestic mountains through the caves – when, lo and behold! there’s a goat scrambling up the side of the mountain. Needless to say I played amateur wildlife photographer for the rest of the trip spotting and taking pictures of more and more goats along the sides of the mountains.
We also took the time to ride around the surrounding area and rode into a tiny village with the streets so narrow you could touch both sides with your hands at the same time. We were greeted with lots of curious stares and one of the villagers insisted we follow him out thinking we were lost – it was hard to explain to him that we were “just looking around”.
