Cambodian cooking class

After changing hotels in the morning (yet again!) we have embarrassed ourselves for the first time by forgetting to pay and the hotel clerk having to chase us on the scooter half way down the street and around the corner.

The workload is getting pretty heave at work with my main contractor asking for a week off with only a few hours available every day and me not having found a suitable secondary one employed yet due to my extremely high standard I am having to “work” overtime which interferes with me travelling a bit.

The highlight of the day was  three hour cooking class, which Will decided to skip but I went to anyway. There were only 3 people doing the class, me and another older Holland couple who (surprise surprise!) also decided to take 3 months off to travel around SE Asia. The company was pleasant and the cooking teacher was joking and friendly, and I got to perfect my Tapioca Pumpkin desert, Setronel Soup and Green Mango salad – all three were yummy. It was interesting seeing the “inside” of a restaurant (the class was held at Le Tiger de Papier on the main pub street) and see how they go about creating food that for us seems “exotic”.

Ended a day with a “foot” massage that somehow involved massaging the whole body – and I am yet to experience a massage in Asia that is a pleasant rather than hurtful experience, but I guess all for the better.

Had 3 desserts for dinner, one of which was a banana tapioca and both me and Will agreed it was much much worse then the pumpkin one I whipped up during the cooking class – they’ll make a professional Cambodian chef out of me yet!
